Halle Barry has made the pixie her iconic hairstyle and brought back this popular cut from the seventies into the 21st Century. In this picture Halle is wearing her pixie with lots of spikes and volume. You can achieve this look with volumizing mousse or gel and lots of hairspray. This shaggy cut is very versatile. You can wear it spiked up when you feel a bit daring, or brush it smooth on days you need a more conservative look. Ask your stylist for a razor cut short shag to get this look. Hair paste is also a great styling tool for this cut since it will hold your hair in place without weighing it down. This is important for the wispy look you want to achieve.

If you want a really edgy look consider a faux hawk. In this picture her hair is cut short on the sides and longer on the crown. This helps form the faux hawk. This is a good example of using a haircut and color to create a very stunning look.

Soft Sexy Curls are One of the Hot Trends for Spring 2013 – Oklahoma City Hairstyles

Although Oklahoma City is still in the grips of winter, now is the time to start thinking about a new look for spring. There are several new trends emerging in hair and makeup and one of the sexiest looks is soft waves with a side part. This a dramatic and glamorous look for medium to long hair. It is easy to get this look in just a few steps. Megan Fox wore her hair in this style at the recent Grey Goose screening of “Friends With Kids“ at the SVA Theater in New York City. Here is how to achieve this red carpet worthy style.

After shampooing and conditioning your hair, gently towel dry it. Apply volumizing mousse to your hair, and use a large barrel brush with your blow dryer. Lift the hair at the roots with the brush and concentrate the flow of air on them as you dry your hair. This will help achieve lots of volume and give your hair a full and sexy look. Continue to dry your hair drawing the brush and the blow dryer down the hair shaft gently turning the ends under.

Once your hair is dry, apply some heat protecting product all over and set your hair in hot rollers. Let the rollers completely cool and remove them. Create a deep side part and gently brush your curls out. Spray your hair with some hairspray and you’ll be ready for a night out or a special occasion.

If you have color treated hair, be sure to use products designed specifically for your hair. They will protect your color and keep it from fading. If you need a shine boost, use a shine spray to make your hair soft and lustrous. Remember that a beautiful style starts with an expert cut from an experienced stylist. Ask your stylist for recommendations on products to keep your hair looking and feeling great. Spring maybe a few months a way, but it’s never too earlier to give some thought to a new look. Ask your stylist for ideas and any trends she knows about coming over the horizon.

Top Hairstyles for Men in 2012 – Oklahoma City Hairstylist

Does your man need a new look? Or are you a man looking for a new style for the summer? Summer in Oklahoma is hot and can be muggy so you need easy styles to get you through the days and nights of the season. The buzz cut and the fade are faithful styles which have served men for many years, but you might be looking for something a bit different to reflect your own style. Here are four very popular hairstyles for men that offer more than the status quo.

http://uberhairstylist.wordpress.com/2011/12/23/mens-key-hair-cuts-on-2012-shoulder-length-haircut/
Uber Hairstylist

The Falke Lookbook included this shoulder length style for men. This cut works best with hair which has some wave or a slight curl. If your hair is thick, ask your stylist to give you some layers to remove some of the weight and release your hair’s natural wave. To style this look create texture with paste, sea salt spray or a volumizing mousse. Use a bit of anit-frizz serum to keep looking polished. You can even pull this style up into a ponytail if you don’t have time for a full on styling session.

http://uberhairstylist.wordpress.com/2011/12/23/mens-key-hair-cuts-on-2012-curly-mop-top/
Uber Hairstylist

The curly mop top is another great style for men with longer hair and plenty of curl. Ask for a medium length cut so that you get a uniform look. You don’t want it too short or long because these cuts will not give you the relaxed and casual style of a mop top. To style this look, start with towel dried hair and apply some texturizing cream or curl defining product. Use a diffuser on your blow dryer and your fingers to control frizz. Use fiber wax once your hair is dry to define the curls.

http://uberhairstylist.wordpress.com/2011/12/23/mens-key-hair-cuts-on-2012-short-waves-short-curls/
Uber Hairstylist

If you want to wear your hair shorter and you have lots of curls or waves, try this style. Ask your stylist to cut the sides short and leave the top longer. If you don’t have waves or curls, you may not get the natural look if you try to add them with a curling iron. This is a very simple look to style. On damp hair run some curl control cream through your hair and let it dry naturally. Avoid styling products which create hard curls so you get the most natural look.

Notorious Mag

The quiff has made a comeback in a big way this year. Think of Elvis or James Dean with a 2012 edge. Ask your stylist to cut your hair very short on the sides and leave the top long. There are many ways to style a quiff, and this cut gives you plenty of options. On towel dried hair apply plenty of gel or styling paste. Use a large barrel brush to blow dry your hair, directing the top to one side or straight back. Next take some fiber paste and sculpt your quiff to the height you want. Be creative and come up with your own personal take on this classic style.

These are only four popular styles for summer 2012. Ask your stylist to help you find one that is just right for your hair type and lifestyle. She can also give you recommendations for the right products to achieve the look you want.

5 New Looks for Your Hair – OKC Hair Stylist

Medium length hair is the ideal choice for the early winter months. It’s easy to style.  It’s long enough that it can protect against the cold, but is short enough to stay healthy and shiny. If you plan to have medium length hair, please consider the styles listed below.  There are all kinds of modern hairstyles this season.

If you want to change something about yourself, why not consult your hairdresser and change your hair?  It’s cheaper than a nose job and grows out better, too.  Here are some of the most modern examples around. Consult a hairdresser.  She can help you form the best fit for your face and all you need is the courage to change!

No matter what, hairpieces and pony tails will not be ignored in this winter’s hairstyles.  Even those who don`t like change will be thrilled by these beautiful hairstyles for this fall and winter.

1. Bohemian-hippy style- It has an exotic sound to it but is common enough that you won’t shock people.  This style has been made popular by the likes of Avril Lavigne.  Your stylist can apply heat protection to your hair and dry the hair partially. She can part the hair in the middle of the head and finish drying it with a special technique with a brush to give you a warm and short haired look. As your stylist shapes your hair, it should look a little wild. Ask for advice on how to apply hair spray consistently, based on your hair.

2. Ponytail- Have your hair straightened and gathered in a ponytail!   Ask your stylist to pull out one strand of hair and wrap it around the pony tail for an exquisite and sophisticated look.  Adding product to increase the glow will emphasize an ultra-sleek appearance. We recommend having nourishing treatment professionally applies for the hair before styling. Treatment keeps hair healthy and shiny.

3. The Wet Look-The appearance of “straight from the shower.” With a professional dry and part, this style will prepare you for a night out or social event.  Ask your hairstylist to apply this look for you, from top to bottom.

4. “Country girl” look-This hairstyle is simple and natural–quickly and easily shaped. The style is achieved with unequal parting and all the hair collected over one shoulder. Lightly pushed-up hair gives volume and a ragged appearance. Ask your stylist to tighten the hair together in two or more places to give it an in-and-out flow.   She will then decide what to do with the bangs.  Ask if it is possible to sweep them across your forehead and fasten them in back.  This will give you a phenomenal look that is simple and gorgeous at the same time.

5. XXL bun or pin-up -Ask your stylist for a wash and see if they recommend towel dried hair and/or mouse. Your hairdresser can then completely dry your hair.  You can ask your stylist to give your hair an extra shine as well. Then she can curl your hair into a hairpiece high on your head or pin it. For short or thin hair, ask if she recommends the use of a ring dryer for volume.

Men’s Rockabilly Styles are Hot for 2012 – Oklahoma City Hair Salon

Retro looks are hot for 2012 and men’s hairstyles are no exception. One of the hottest looks seen on the runways of popular fashion designers is rockabilly hair. Rockabilly hair has its roots in the early rock days of the 50’s. These hairstyles have slicked back sides, high crowns and more often than not, duck tails in the back. Rockabilly hair may look complicated to style, but it’s actually fairly easy.

http://www.fashionising.com/trends/b--rockabilly-hairstyle-4033.html
Fashionising.com

First start out with a great cut. Ask your stylist to keep the top longer than the sides and shorter on the sides and in the back. To get the height necessary for a true rockabilly style, you’ll need beeswax, pomade, and a comb. Apply pomade to towel dried hair. Apply some beeswax to the roots and bend over and blow dry your hair upside down. Concentrate on the roots and use your fingers to comb through your hair. Once your hair is dry, reapply some more pomade and comb your hair straight back, or create a middle or side part and comb it back. Use some more beeswax to form curls or rolls like the model in this picture.

What sets a rockabilly style apart from the quiff is neatness. Rockabilly styles are a bit less constructed than the quiff, yet are still neat and tailored. Pair this hairstyle with some black straight leg jeans, a white t-shirt, crepe sole shoes, and a black leather jacket. Another popular retro look is dark blue denim jeans rolled up to form a cuff with a bowling shirt. You may want to enlist the help of your stylist the first few times you try out this style so she can show you some tricks and tips on getting the real retro look. She can also give you recommendations for the right professional products to use to achieve one of the hottest look for 2012.

Men Go Retro with the “Darmody” – Oklahoma City Hairstylist

The popularity of HBO’s show, Boardwalk Empire, has helped to fuel a new hair trend among young men. The Darmody, or undercut, is a style which is close cut on the sides and left long on the top. Michael Pitt played the character James “Jimmy” Darmody on the popular show. His character has been killed off, but his hairstyle lives on.

LA Times

You can also see versions of this cut in the movie, Oh Brother Where Art Thou? If you look at pictures of the old time mobsters, you’ll see this was a popular cut during prohibition times, and today it is one of the most popular cuts requested by men in their 20s and 30s.

If you want to try out this style, ask you stylist to give you an undercut. Depending on your facial shape and how daring you are, you can have your hair cut very close on the sides or have a more blended look. The key is to have the sides shorter than the top. You can then use pomade and slick the top back, or for a different look use styling paste to add some texture.

http://www.latimes.com/features/image/la-ig-boardwalk-side-20120122,0,1552250.story
LA Times

This cut is suitable for almost all jobs and walks of life. Not quite as funky as the mullet, but not as boring as a fade, the Darmody is an excellent choice for young professionals and any man who wants to look polished and tap into the retro trend. This may not be the style for you if your hairline is receding since you won’t be able to get the signature combed back look, but your stylist can adapt the cut to your hair and give you a reasonable facsimile. Get in on the retro trend and give the Darmody a try.

Hair Color Tips – Oklahoma City Hair Stylist

Portrait of girl with straight, blonde hair
Image via Wikipedia

Have you ever wondered why most women are coloring their hair? There are many reasons such as: looking better, feeling younger and more attractive or just to hide greys. Very often the hair and color of the hair tells a lot about us, ours character, spirit or even wishes. No matter what type of person you are, there are some tips you should know about hair coloring.

The first step should be visiting your hairdresser. The best and the safest way for coloring your hair is to have it done by a professional. So, don`t forget to consult your hairdresser, especially if you’ve decided to color for the first time in your life or if you want a totally different color! Your hair color depends on your complexion. So, it`s very important to choose the color that fits you the best because you will immediately look better, and your hair will look richer an shinier. The second step should be choosing the color. Also, it`s very important to ask yourself which color you would feel the best about? According to some stereotypes, blonde reveals a youthful, softer look, and brunette a confidence. Redheads want to be in the spotlight. What color would fit you?

If you have light colored eyes and light complexion you should choose blond. But keep in mind, if you decide to choose to be a “blonde” you should see your hairdresser often. Being a “blonde” means that the tops of your hair will often be dry and cracked. Seeing your hairdresser is crucial if you want a healthy and beautiful hairstyle! Also, blonde has a lot of shades, so choose one that suits you the best. In choosing shades listen to a hairdresser’s expert advice.

The most natural look for you might be brunette. But the exact shade of brown is very important too. It usually fits with brown eyes very well! If you have very light complexion, dark brown hair could make you look pale or ill. Consult your hairdresser to choose the right shade because the right color makes you look fresh. Highlights also refresh your hair. They make your hair richer and give your hair depth. Highlights will draw out and define certain sections of hair.

As mentioned above, redheads are always in the spotlight. No matter if your hair is short or long, you`ll be seen. Red color fits well with the person who has a light complexion and any color of eyes. For some women red color is refreshing, but may make some people look overdone. You have to be very careful with make-up too. If you go to a business meeting or job interview, tie your hair in a ponytail to make you look more serious. For evening, choose untamed curls and everyone will surely keep an eye on you. However, don`t forget that consulting your hairdresser is very important if you are seriously considering coloring your hair.

The Pixie Voted #1 Haircut of 2011 – Oklahoma City Hairstylist

Emma Watson’s pixie cut was voted the number one cut by the Wall Street Journal’s Fashion Highlights of 2011. Emma’s pixie even out ranked Jennifer Aniston’s new bob for searches on Google last year. According to the Daily Glow, Emma’s pixie was cited by the Wall Street Journal as a major shift in women’s hairstyles. While that may be a bit of a steep statement, no one can deny the pixie has taken the American hairstyle scene by storm.

Short Haircut Styles Info

The pixie has been a popular style since the early 50’s when Audrey Hepburn wore one with short fringe. Many young girls wore their hair in pixies in the 60’s and it remains a very chic style suitable for women of all ages. The pixie is not for the fainthearted, it takes some spunk and confidence to wear your hair this short, but if you’re brave enough you’ll find this one of the easiest ways to wear your hair. This style has many variations, you can wear it with or without fringe, parted in the middle or to the side, and straight, wavy or curly. A pixie works for almost any type of texture and thickness.

Good Housekeeping

Your stylist can razor cut your hair if it is thick and wavy, or point cut the top to give you more texture and the illusion of thickness. Like all styles, the right products can help to produce the desired results. For a wash and go look massage in a small bit of gel to keep frizz under control. For a pieced out look use styling paste to spike up your pixie. If you want a smooth look use some leave in conditioner to keep everything sleek and smooth.

Ask your stylist which type of pixie is best for your face shape and lifestyle. She can help you be creative and get the pixie that looks the best on you.

Men Don’t Have to Wear Short Hair – Oklahoma City

In most cases men wear short hair. But it is not true that this is the only hairstyle for men. It is a stereotypical point of view that long hair is only for women, even today. Men with long hair were placed in a “rebel without a case” category years ago. They remind us of all those singers and musicians from the 80’s with long, wild and messy long hair. During that time and even today that “headbanger hair” is the distinct style of rockers and heavy-metal musicians. But, it is not just for them. Why couldn’t any other man have long hair? If you guys have healthy and nice hair, just grow long hair! Do not pay attention to stereotypes! The most important thing is that your hair must be clean and neat. Also, don’t forget to visit your hairdresser more often to help you with your dry hair or split ends, so your hair will look nice and healthy. For ceremonial events you can tie it in a ponytail.

Self-portrait
Image via Wikipedia

Men in most cases wear short hair styles. After all, they are easiest to maintain, and look neat. It Is the best solution for men who lead an active sports life, or for men who simply do not like to spend too much time fixing their hair. A few swishes with your fingers and possibly applying hair-care products and your hair is done. But, a requirement to keep in mind with this hairstyle is that you need to visit your hairdresser often enough to cut your hair and to maintain its shape and to make sure you always look neat.

Although short hair is very popular and common, there are several different types of short hairstyles. You can choose from a very short, almost shaved hairstyle that reminds you of a military look, or leave it slightly longer and go for a different hairstyle if that is more to your taste. But you will probably still want it short enough that is easy to maintain.

For special occasions, hair deserves almost as much attention as clothes. You would never appear in a crumpled shirt so why would you come with greasy, messy hair? Styling your hair for special occasions is showing your embellished side, the best of yourself, regardless of whether you’ve known the people (or person) you’ll be meeting for a long time, or will be introduced to them for the first time. To achieve a good look for you, visit your hairdresser a week before the ceremony or event and ask to have your hair cut  like this: On the sides and the back of your head shorten the hair with scissors, then ask her to cut your upper hair sharply to establish a balance between the neatly cut parts. On the day of ceremony, put some gel on all your hair and gently comb down and back. Lift the front part a little so it’s standing up and you do not look sleazy or greasy. And, do not worry too much about getting every hair in a place! That is not the point! This may turn out to be a great look for you.

Long Hair May Be The Hairstyle for You – Oklahoma City

Long hair has always been a sign of a “fashion attitude” for both women and men. If you are considering letting your hair grow long, it is very important that you know what to expect, otherwise too much time and effort will be invested only to realize, later, that long hair is not for you. There are plenty of things that need to be considered before you change your hair style. You should consult you hairdresser and choose what is best for you. The most important is the shape of your face, but to achieve the perfect hair style you must consider all of advantages and disadvantages. In other words, your new haircut should agree with your personality, lifestyle, career, body shape, texture of your hair, eye color and complexion of your skin. Long hair has many advantages, but, it also has disadvantages, and these are of crucial importance in making the decision.

Long hair 133 (BJ)Source: pexels.com
Two considerations are attractiveness and variety. Long hair definitely stands out as a most attractive hair style, because it forms a line of hair that attracts attention. Long hair that is shining under bright light is always a wonderful sight, isn`t it? The simplest curl can make your hair look irresistibly sexy. One of the biggest advantages of long hair is variety. Depending on the time and situation, you always have a choice of several hair styles for every occasion. Do you have an official party tonight? No problem! Just tell your hairdresser what occasion it is and you can have the best look at the party. With long hair you can have a bright bun in a classical elegant style, and you can`t do that with any other length of hair.

And you can have an elegant braid if you think that will fit you better. But if you don’t want any of this, or you just don`t have enough time, there is always a good solution- a ponytail. With long hair there is nothing to worry about! You have as many choices as you want! But do not forget, everything has disadvantages. Long hair has it, too. Probably the biggest disadvantage is that you have to take care of the long hair. This takes time. Long hair also means old hair. As it gets longer, that means it gets older and requires more care. It is important to use a good quality hair mask and other preparations for this hair type to help ensure the strength, shine and health of all the hair. Do not forget to consult your hairdresser about it! It is important to adjust the length of your hair to the work you do. Because hair that always falls over your eyes may be a big problem. Especially if you work with dangerous materials or any job that involves constant precision work with your hands.

You have to really ask yourself and be sure about having long hair, because it can easily become trouble instead of beauty. If you decide to do it, however, the payoff is simply fantastic.

Adventurous Red

Without any exaggeration, fiery red hair is the biggest trend and challenge. Courageous women can have red hair and those who like to be in the spotlight, but it is also for those who like to be trendy in a quiet way. It is also good for those who consider it a pleasure to constantly take care of their hair. Red hair is one of the most difficult to maintain because the color fades more quickly than other colors and growth is always a challenge.

Red is easily recognized when the paint is fresh, there’s no way that we can miss it! It highlights facial features as well. Red hair fits women who have lighter skin, but it fits great with any color: green, brown, or blue or anything in between. If you want to do something new and courageous, just color your hair red! Don’t forget to consult your hairdresser before you decide to do such a thing, and you will avoid a possible homemade disaster. Your hairdresser will find the best tone to match to your face. As we know there are many tones of red such as ruby red, fire red, cherry red, dark red and many, many more.

It is up to you which one you will choose. But you should take advice from your hairdresser for a professional opinion. The red colors offer a variety of options, from the vibrant and dramatic, with which you will be transformed into a fashion icon, to the natural and delicate, which tends toward light brown shades. Glossing is a necessary part of all this so that flashes of red color come to the fore.

It is very important to take your hairdressers advice and take all the necessary means to maintain the shine (remember this color is one that needs you to take care of it!). Red hair is highly visible, fun and expresses a cheerful personality, and, of course, the inclination to experiment and risk. It is easy to say “Just get red hair and you will shine!” No matter how incredible it sounds, it is true! You will shine! The most boring dress combo looks interesting with your new red hair.

If you’ve always wanted to try this color, right now is the time when there is a great emphasis on expressive hair colors. Perhaps it’s time for you to have the courage and confidence to do it!
