Top Hairstyles for Men in 2012 – Oklahoma City Hairstylist

Does your man need a new look? Or are you a man looking for a new style for the summer? Summer in Oklahoma is hot and can be muggy so you need easy styles to get you through the days and nights of the season. The buzz cut and the fade are faithful styles which have served men for many years, but you might be looking for something a bit different to reflect your own style. Here are four very popular hairstyles for men that offer more than the status quo.

The Falke Lookbook included this shoulder length style for men. This cut works best with hair which has some wave or a slight curl. If your hair is thick, ask your stylist to give you some layers to remove some of the weight and release your hair’s natural wave. To style this look create texture with paste, sea salt spray or a volumizing mousse. Use a bit of anit-frizz serum to keep looking polished. You can even pull this style up into a ponytail if you don’t have time for a full on styling session.

The curly mop top is another great style for men with longer hair and plenty of curl. Ask for a medium length cut so that you get a uniform look. You don’t want it too short or long because these cuts will not give you the relaxed and casual style of a mop top. To style this look, start with towel dried hair and apply some texturizing cream or curl defining product. Use a diffuser on your blow dryer and your fingers to control frizz. Use fiber wax once your hair is dry to define the curls.

If you want to wear your hair shorter and you have lots of curls or waves, try this style. Ask your stylist to cut the sides short and leave the top longer. If you don’t have waves or curls, you may not get the natural look if you try to add them with a curling iron. This is a very simple look to style. On damp hair run some curl control cream through your hair and let it dry naturally. Avoid styling products which create hard curls so you get the most natural look.

Notorious Mag

The quiff has made a comeback in a big way this year. Think of Elvis or James Dean with a 2012 edge. Ask your stylist to cut your hair very short on the sides and leave the top long. There are many ways to style a quiff, and this cut gives you plenty of options. On towel dried hair apply plenty of gel or styling paste. Use a large barrel brush to blow dry your hair, directing the top to one side or straight back. Next take some fiber paste and sculpt your quiff to the height you want. Be creative and come up with your own personal take on this classic style.

These are only four popular styles for summer 2012. Ask your stylist to help you find one that is just right for your hair type and lifestyle. She can also give you recommendations for the right products to achieve the look you want.

How to Style Today’s Waves – Oklahoma City Hairstylist

Wavy hairstyles have been a mainstay of fashion for as long as women have been styling their hair. Finger waves become very popular in the 20’s and are still going strong today. For many years women rolled their hair horizontally to attain beautiful waves. Today waves are tend to be more vertical. Soft vertical waves falling loosely is a very sexy look. One of the things to remember about today’s wavy styles is they are not stiff and structured. Use just enough hairspray to keep your hair from becoming frizzy, but not so much you have helmet head.

http://www.womansday.com/style-beauty/beauty-tips-products/celebrity-hairstyles-curly-hair?click=style#slide-6
Woman's Day

To get today’s sexy waves start with a great haircut. Ask your stylist to give you a layered cut. Layers will let your hair’s natural wave pattern emerge and gives your hair movement. Waves work on almost all lengths except very short styles. Be sure to keep up on your monthly trims so your style stays fresh and the dead ends are removed from your hair.

Once you have a great cut, use some curl activator on towel dried hair. Blow dry your hair using a large barrel brush. Next apply a heat protecting product to prevent damage from high heat tools. You have the choice of using hot rollers or a curling iron to create waves. Use either one and roll your hair vertically in random sections. Once your hair is completely cool brush it out gently with a natural bristle brush. Use a styling paste to add definition and a light spritz of hair spray to keep everything under control. Now you will have sexy, loose, and trendy waves that frame your face and make you look fabulous.

Jessica Lange was looking fabulous in a shoulder length wavy style. This is a great style for women over 40 because it softens their features and is very feminine. Many women who reach 40 feel they have to cut all of their hair off, but this isn’t true. As you can see, longer hair works on any age as long as it is styled to accent her face shape and bring out her best features.

Diana Argon’s fishtail is a fresh take on braids. Fishtail braids are fairly easy to do. Instead of pulling the hair over to create a braid, pull it under and take hair from your head as you go. Diana’s style is a bit messy, but you can wear it this way or smooth.

Busy Phillips was wearing a very popular take on braids to the SAG Awards. She wore her hair loose with a braid to the side in the front. The side part keeps the style from looking like a Swedish milkmaid and helps to create asymmetry.

Kelly Osbourne has always been on the forefront of fashion and recently she chose to have her hair colored gray. In a recent interview she said she had this done to give her hair a rest from all of the bleaching she has done to it. Younger celebrities are trying out gray for a change. The key is to have silver gray and not gold tones to keep your hair looking fresh.

Tiquan’s hair had already caused a stir with it’s Kid-n-Play play height, and now he’s added an even more interesting element to an already great style.

That’s it for this week. Ask your stylist to help you create interesting braids if you’re not sure how to do it. If your hair is looking a bit drab, ask her about refreshing your color or choosing a brand new color. Are you brave enough for gray? Until next week be safe and be check back next week for the next edition.

From a large beehive to a long straight look with bangs, celebrities were wearing their hair a bunch of different ways this week. If you see a look you love, ask your stylist to make it your own. Cheryl Cole was wearing a terrifically high beehive at the launch of her new shoe line. The secret to a great beehive is back combing. This isn’t a very hard technique, but you might want to have your stylist do it the first time and show you the ropes. Cheryl also has one of the hottest trends, a pretty gold hair band. Hair accessories are very popular now, and the great thing about them is you can have a whole collection without breaking the bank.

Daily Mail.UK

Fearne Cotton at the launch of her fashion line, Very, wore her hair in a cute wavy bob. This style is reminiscent of the styles of the 20’s and looks very cute on Fearne. Her light blonde hair is on trend and her retro waves are very chic. You can get this look with hot rollers and a large paddle brush. After your hair has cooled, brush your hair out, smooth the roots and apply some hairspray.

Minka Kelly wore her hair in long curls at her recent appearance on David Letterman. You can get this look with rollers or a large barrel curling iron. Be sure to use some heat protecting product before you curl your hair. A bit of mousse when your hair is damp will help hold the curls. You can either brush your hair out, or use your fingers for a less structured look.

Style Bistro

Eva Herzigova’s flip hair at the Raisa Gorbachev Fundraiser was a breath of fresh air. This cute style is easy to obtain with a blow dryer, round brush and flat iron. Blow dry your hair concentrating on the ends while flipping them up with the brush. Run a flat iron down the hair shaft and just flip it up at the ends. You can use some styling paste if you want to define the flip more, or just some hairspray for a more loose curl.

Style Bistro

Julie Bowen’s side pony at Saban Free Clinic Benefit Luncheon hosted by Michael Kors is one of the easiest styles to do. Simply brush your hair, pull it to one side and secure it with your choice of hair band. You can leave it a bit messy like Julie’s, or wear it smooth and sleek.

Style Bistro

Leighton Meester wore her hair in a long straight style with heavy fringe at the HTC Serves Up NYC product launch event. The key to this look is a great cut. Ask your stylist for a long blunt cut with heavy fringe. This is the perfect look for straight hair, or you can use a flat iron and anti-frizz spray if you have wavy or curly hair.

That’s it for this week. As you can see, anything goes as far as hair this season. Have fun with your hair and ask your stylist for recommendations for styling products, color and the right cut for your facial shape. Until next week, keep looking to the celebrities for inspiration and have fun!

Get Christina Hendricks Look – Oklahoma City Hair Salon

Christina Hendricks may be best known for her character the red head bombshell, Joan Holloway on TNT’s Mad Men. Her fiery red hair has become her signature look. Christina is a natural blonde, but her colorist gave her the perfect shade of red to compliment her skin tone. Her cut is a one length medium style with layers in the edges to give it movement and shape. Layers help to release her natural waves and this style is great for women who have long faces to give them an illusion of width.

Hairstyler.com

Get Christina’s look with just a few steps. Use mousse on damp hair to give it volume and hold. Next create a deep side part with your comb. Now use a barrel brush and dry the back and sides of your hair curling the ends under. Pull the sides of your hair toward the front while your blow dry them to create body. It is easier if you section your hair with clips and dry a small section at a time. This will not only help dry your hair faster, but give you lots of volume. The next step is to roll the entire back of your hair from the crown to the nape of your neck in hot rollers. Use small sections and roll the hair under to get the best effect. Roll the sides of your hair vertically (up and down) to create waves. Once your hair is cool remove the rollers carefully. Finger comb your hair and use a bit of styling paste on the ends to give it definition. Spray a small amount of medium hold hairspray on your hair and you’re done.

You will need to have a color touch-up and trim every four to six weeks to keep your style looking its best. Always use professional products to wash and style your hair since they contain ingredients that help protect your vibrant red color. Ask your stylist for recommendations on the right red hue and products to use at home to keep your color salon fresh.

Wavy Hair Hits The Red Carpet This 2010!

Short and sweet or long and breezy – wavy hair has no limits. You can enjoy the wave-styled hairdo at almost any length. For 2010, waves are going to make a bold fashion statement as you probably have seen in the magazines and celebrity shows.

Angelina Jolie has nice knees

The difference in the 2010 wavy look would be in use of color, highlights, and texture. Naturally, if you want to get the wavy hair, you need to get a professional cut. This is not something that can be done properly in a barber shop or at home. It is only after the stylist has cut your hair that you can go home and try different looks.

Two of the 2010 trends for wavy hair are the wavy shag and the wavy bob. The wavy shag is like a “just got out of bed look.” It’s messy but with a lot of control, and it’s movement but with a lot of style. To get this look, you must have medium to thick hair because the hair cut should have a lot of layering. On the other hand, if the layering is done wrong, and is not graduated, the end result would be too choppy. It will also encourage frizzy hair.

The wavy bob is a stylish fashion statement – just like what you would see on a lot of the movie stars today like Katie Holmes, who brought the bob back into vogue. The difference with the wavy bob is that you can have thin hair. Thick hair would be a strike out because it would be very difficult to control, and the tendency is for the hair to look wild.

Aside from the getting the 2010 wavy hair look, another bonus with this style would be the fact that wavy hair does not require much time and attention. The point would be to look as if you did not struggle for a couple of hours fixing your hair, or sitting in a salon for over an hour just to get the right wavy look. And even if you did, pulling off the wavy look means being nonchalant about your hair, thereby looking natural and fresh all the time.
