Naturally curly hair can frizz sometimes, which is a major challenge with this hair type. Some women have tried super short hair styles in an effort to keep frizz and out of control days to a minimum, but really short hair isn’t usually a good idea for women with naturally curly hair. Bangs are also often off-limits. With the right stylist, you can sometimes break these rules and still end up with great results, but how you get your hair cut is extremely important. Without the right cut, your curly locks are likely to be a challenge for you.

It might be wise to find a hair stylist who specializes in cutting and styling naturally curly hair. Some women have recommended that you find a stylist who has naturally curly locks herself to guarantee that she would have the necessary skills to give you the look you’re really going for. Another way to track down a great stylist for naturally curly hair is to find someone who has a similar hair texture to yours and ask her who her stylist is.

Usually, it’s best to go with a slightly longer hair style if you have a lot of curls. The longer the hair is, the more weight there is to pull and straighten out those locks. When women with naturally curly hair wear their hair in a longer hair style, it usually has body and a lot of shape to it, which is an advantage over having super straight hair. You may have more challenges by growing out your hair, but you’ll have more styling options if you do.

Although you can ask for a shorter hair cut at the salon, you need to be sure that you get just the right cut. A good stylist who knows what she’s doing with curly hair will use a razor and put in plenty of layers. She’ll also thin the hair slightly to make it less poufy and easier to style.
