Hair glorious hair! As the line in the 1960’s Rock Opera Hair proclaimed has been a subject that has caused controversy, thought and humor. In the Christian Bible hair is called a woman’s crowning glory. Some Muslim followers believe that a woman’s hair is only for her husband and require her to cover it when out in public. Rastafarian believers are prohibited from cutting or styling their hair and wear it in dreadlocks. Buddhist monks, men and women alike, shave their hair in an effort to let go of earthly bonds and vanities.
Throughout history hair has been a sign of social status and class. Today we change our hair color and hairstyles with the coming seasons and fads. For both men and women hair is just more than a way to cover their head, it is a personal and important part of one’s self image. Here are some quotes that have been collected that inspire thought, laughter and show just how important hair is to all of us.
