Sexy Short Haircuts – OKC Haircuts

It may seem as though there aren’t that many options when it comes to short hairstyles, but the truth is, if you decide to go short, you have a lot of decisions to make! Celebrities such as Coca Rocha and Jennifer Hudson have proven that short hair can definitely be sexy, but which hair cut is the right one for you? Before you can decide, you need to know a little bit about what’s available, so read on. Then, talk with your stylist about the hair cut that would look best with your hair type and face shape.

One of the most famous short hair cuts on the market these days is the pixie. Pixie cuts have been sported by Anne Hathaway, Winona Ryder, and a host of other celebrities who have demonstrated that short hair is quite seductive! Pixie cuts can take several different forms which will depend mostly on your face shape, your best facial features, and the texture of your hair.

Another popular short do is the crop. Cropped hair, like pixie cuts can be varied to fit a woman’s specific features. Layered, tapered hair is characteristic of this hair style with the hair cut very close to the woman’s head. You can go for a more choppy look or a crop that’s super short. It’s up to you, but it’s always good to be collaborative with your stylist on these matters. You’ll need to return about every 4 to 6 weeks to keep your crop maintained.

A boy cut is another option that appeals to some women. It isn’t hard to create a more feminine appearance to a boy cut by simply leaving some locks to frame the face or wearing lipstick. Boy cuts can be fun in that they require very little maintenance and attention to look great.

A quiff is a good choice if you’re willing to keep a little length on top of the head.

This hair style can give you some volume on top of the head and plenty of feminine softness to work with. It’s a do that is both eye-catching and sexy, but takes little time to maintain. If maintenance is a big issue for you, but you still want a style that has a sexy feminine edge to it, the quiff might be the right option for you.

And finally, if you’re not willing to go super short, consider a short bob. The bob is extremely versatile, but it’s also quick and easy to style each day. If you can’t quite bring yourself to get a boy cut or a pixie, then the bob may be the next best alternative as far as sexy, short hair styles are concerned.

The deep side part and face framing jagged layers are very flattering for women who have round faces. Bobs can be worn straight wavy, with curls, with or without bangs. Asymmetrical bobs are also popular as well as severely angled bobs with thick straight fringe.

The pixie is another classic short hair style which has been popular since the early 20th Century. Originally made popular by the “flappers” of the 1920’s the pixie has gone through many evolutions since its introduction. Annette Benning’s textured pixie is one example of how you can style this classic cut. You can also wear it straight or slicked back in the trendy wet look. Pixies work best with straight or wavy hair, and it is a fun and chic look for women of all ages.

Don’t forget the impact of color. Hair color has so many options now that you can create your own look with the help of your stylist. In this picture by Goldwell Color, the rich purple adds depth and impact. Red is still the most popular color for the spring, with platinum blonde, and deep chestnut coming in second and third. Ask your stylist for suggestions for a color that will create a dramatic change and give you a whole new look.

Angles can give even a basic short cut a trendy look. This really cute cut works perfectly for straight hair. The angles give is some movement and keep it from being boring. Angled bangs soften square and triangle shaped faces. They add some asymmetrical interest and roundness to the face. Your stylist can add angles to almost any short cut. Ask her to angle your bangs for a current and chic look for spring.

This year is the year of the natural curl. Men and women are discovering the freedom of working with, instead of against, their hair’s natural curl patterns. Don’t think you can’t have a cute short cut if you have curly hair. Find a stylist who is experienced cutting curly hair, and she can give you your choice of looks. The key to keeping curly hair looking great is moisture. Use a deep conditioning treatment once a week, and a light leave in conditioner each time you shampoo. Argan oil is perfect for curly hair. It absorbs into the hair shaft and doesn’t leave your hair feeling or looking greasy.

If you’re looking for a new style for next season, why not ask your stylist about a short cut? She can help you find one that is just right for your personal style, time commitment, and face shape. Short hair is sexy and a great look for spring. Ask your stylist for the best hair care and styling products to keep your hair healthy looking and easy to manage.

Hairstyles in the News January 11, 2012 – Oklahoma City Hairstylist

Welcome to the first edition of Hairstyles in the News for 2012! The New Year is a time for resolutions and new beginnings. Hairstyles are no exception and the latest trend is short hair. This week we’ll look at some of the most popular and upcoming trends in short hair for women. If you see a style you like, ask your stylist for recommendations to make it work for your face shape and lifestyle.

Style Bistro

Tina Mojorino had her hair styled in a cute layered cut at Fox’s “Napoleon Dynamite” Sound-A-Like contest. You can get this style by asking your stylist for a short layered cut and randomly curling sections of your hair vertically on your curling iron. Use some styling paste to piece out the curls and give your hair more definition.

Style Bistro

Michelle Williams had her hair cut in a cute pixie at at the 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala. The pixie continues to be a very popular hairstyle. Michelle’s is cut very short and worn simply. Pixies can be worn many different ways and look great straight, wavy or curly.

Style Bistro

Jenna Elfman attended the premiere reception for Showtime’s “Shameless” Season 2 with her hair cut in a short angled bob with long side fringe. This is a good cut if you have a high forehead or very square jaw as the side fringe adds a bit of softness to your face.

Short Hairstyles

Jenny McCarthy’s longer blonde angular bob is an example of a style that will add some definition to your face. This is a great look for round faces since the deep side part helps to create the illusion of an oval face shape. The length is a bit longer and frames her face very well.

Short Hairstyles

Brook Burns’ wavy cut is very feminine and flatters almost every face shape. To get this look you can use hot rollers or a curling iron. If you have naturally wavy or curly hair, all you need is a bit of texture spray to bring out the natural wave pattern.

Allure

Model Tao Okamoto’s bowl cut makes a statement with its angles and heavy bangs. This is not a cut for the faint of heart, but if you’ve got the moxie to pull it off it is a stunning style. Use anti-frizz spray and a flat iron if your hair is not straight.

That’s all for this week. Short hair isn’t for everyone, but if you want a change of pace you may want to give it a try. Always remember, hair will grow back so no style is forever. Until next week, be safe and keep your eye out for the next celebrity hair trend.

Long or Short Retro Waves are Hot – Oklahoma City Hairstylist

One of the hottest trends in celebrity hair is a head full of waves. Wavy hair has been in style for some time now, and you can wear it long or short. The key to getting a full head of lovely waves is to use styling products that hold the wave, but don’t weigh down your hair. You still want some movement in your style, so don’t think you have to end up with “helmet head”.

First wash and condition your hair with a moisturizing system. Hot tools sap the moisture out of your hair, and your hair needs to be in top shape to hold a curl. Next apply a bit of volumizing mousse to damp hair. Mousse is a good choice because it isn’t heavy on your hair, and unlike gel won’t cause that icky white buildup. Next comb your damp hair with a large tooth comb and divide it into small sections and hold them up with hair clips.Blow dry your hair, take each section and using a barrel brush run the blow dryer along the section of hair from root to end. Once you have your hair dry, apply heat protecting spray and resection it.

For Scarlett Johansson’s look you’ll need a Marcel iron. These differ from regular barrel curling irons and are used to make waves and curls. Scarlett’s look is a bit more time consuming to do, but the results are stunning. Take each section of hair and press it with the Marcel iron to form waves. Line up each wave to the other section of the hair and do this all the way around your head. You may want to have your stylist do this and show you how it’s done. Let your hair cool completely and then you can gently brush it out to loosen the waves or leave it. Use some medium hold hairspray and you’ve got a very chic retro style.

Style Bistro

You can use a curling iron or hot rollers to get Bar Refali’s long wavy curls. Follow the above instructions and simply roll your hair up on the curling iron or hot rollers. If you use a curling iron, wrap the hair around some rollers after you curl it to really lock in the waves. Let your hair cool completely, lightly brush it over to one side and let it fall over one shoulder.

With some practice and the right tools and products, you too can have lovely retro waves no matter if you have short, medium or long hair. Ask your stylist to help you get it right and then you’ll be ready to style and go.

If you have shoulder length hair with body, consider a simple and classic look. Here we have a smooth style with curled ends highlighted with a very pretty hair clip. To get this style, set your hair in large hot rollers and let them cool. Remove the rollers, and with a large paddle brush, brush through your hair smoothing around the crown and letting the ends of your hair curl. Use hair spray to keep your hair in place and add a pretty hair clip.

Retro finger waves are very popular this season. They can be a bit difficult to do, so this is one style you may want to have your hairstylist help you with. To make a finger wave, you’ll need gel, a comb and some practice. Begin by combing your hair straight and then take the comb and your finger and form a wave. Continue down the shaft of your hair alternating the direction of the hair. Be careful to have the waves match across your head so you’ll get a polished and retro look.

A smooth bob is an easy style you can have for your wedding without much fuss. To get volume and lift, use a volumizing mousse and a large barrel vent brush to blow dry your hair. Pull your hair up and concentrate the flow of the blow dryer on the ends first. Pull the brush to the ends of your hair and twist the brush so you get a slight under curl. Use a flat iron to give you a smooth and sleek look. A deep side part is very chic now and gives you a modern look.

If you have curly hair or love curls, go all out and wear your hair curly with heavy fringe. Set your hair in medium hot rollers or use a curling iron to achieve a full head of curls. The heavy fringe is an attractive contrast to the curls.

Your wedding day is a day to start a new life with the man you love. These four ideas can be a starting point to getting the perfect look to what you hope will be your perfect day. Take some of the worry out of it by booking an appointment several weeks before the big day so you and your stylist can decide exactly how your hair will look. Be sure to book your appointment far enough in advance so you can come in the morning of your wedding and have your hair done. This will be one less thing you’ll have to worry about so you can enjoy your wedding and celebrate your new life together.
