Creating a Unique Hair Style by Mixing Goth, Punk, and Emo

Can you really mix the goth, punk, and emo looks together? Absolutely, but before you get to work creating your own unique style, it’s important to understand some basics. Punk, emo, and goth are all very different styles and their based on different philosophies. How you wear your hair and clothing can communicate a lot about you and basing a look on any one of these styles will express a message to onlookers. As long as you understand the symbolism behind these looks, you can take the different elements and use them in your own way and to your own advantage.

You don’t just wake up someday and become goth. Goth isn’t just a look or a hair style. It’s a perspective on the world and a way of life. Goths tend to look for beauty in things that other people regard as “dark”. That which is weird or ugly might be seen as beautiful to a goth. Though many people who embrace this ideology dye their hair black, it isn’t necessary to do so, if you don’t want to. Dark hair is definitely a hallmark of this look, but make-up and clothing can signal that you’re a goth as well. Chains and studs along with fishnets and black clothing with platform shoes or boots would be a good choice if you want spice up your hairstyle with goth clothing.

A dark hair color isn’t just a sign of the goth mentality. It’s also common for emos to go all black as well. There isn’t a particular hair style that screams emo, but as a general rule, in order to stay true to this style, you have to stay away from hair that looks “scene”. Scene hair is generally backcombed and it signifies something completely different than emo. Wear converse shoes, sweaters or trousers to mix a hybrid hair style with emo garb.

Though goth and emo hair styles are very similar to each other, punk is quite a bit different. In fact, punks tend to be recognized primarily by how they style their hair. Outrageous styles like mohawks or liberty spikes, shaved hair on one side of the head, and wild, bright hair colors are common among punks. Whereas goths and emos often will dye their hair jet black, punks tend to wear clothing that is all black while their hair is bright, colorful, and eye-catching.

One way to combine looks would be to talk to your stylist about getting a cut that could support a multitude of different looks including emo, punk, or goth. Consider getting your hair dyed, but think about using temporary hair extensions to add bright, punk hair colors to your overall look when you feel like it.

Fall 2013 Hairstyle Trends – Oklahoma City Hairstyles

Straight!
Straight! (Photo credit: Roberta W.B.)

This fall, don’t miss out on the latest hair trends. These new trends will keep you from  sticking with your worn out summer do, especially because these new Fall 2013 styles have a lot to offer in terms of new looks. If you like to stay abreast of the latest and greatest styles, you’ll need to update your current look to keep up with the forecasted changes that are underway. This season, it is all about contrasts.

For a while now, the 1980’s look has dominated the scene, but this fall’s hairstyle trends seem to be marching along to their own beat. Runway models are sporting locks that are both relaxed and carefree as well as those that are slicked back and pristine. Permed hair doesn’t stand out as a trend, as strongly as it did this spring and summer. Instead, you might want to go straight this fall and keep them straightened by using regular oil treatments and applying an anti-frizz serum on a regular basis.

Hair gel is another must-have item to keep your new cut looking all the rage. It doesn’t matter whether your hair is long or short, the wet-hair look is definitely “in” this season. Though the pixie cut continues to dominate the short-hair market, even long and medium length hair has been given a heavy dose of hair gel this season. This is an easy look to pull off no matter what little time you have to spend on your hair. This is one of those styles that only takes a few minutes to perfect.

You have a choice when it comes to pony tails this fall too. You can either slick your hair back so that it is extremely smooth and very straight or you can purposely pull your hair back into a very loose and relaxed pony tail. But sporty pony tails are out! Pull your hair back with some tendrils hanging loose so that it has a whimsical look to it or put in the extra time and slick those tresses back so that not a single strand is out of place. While pony tails continue to be very trendy this fall, on the runway, models aren’t wearing their hair in sporty fashions, rather they have their hair tied back in a romantic fly-away look, or sometimes, they sport the look of precision and extreme maintenance.

Super straight hair seems to be the most popular look for fall 2013. If you have naturally curly hair, you may want to chat with your stylist about straightening options or consider buying heat styling tools to get the look of super-straight hair. Whether you’ve got the look of a wet head or you’re pulling your hair back into a pony tail, you’re going to want slightly less wavy dreads for this fall.

Fall 2013 Hair Color Trends – OKC Hair Color

If you love to change your hair color almost as often as you change your shoes, then this season has a lot to offer in terms of diversity and flair. Fall 2013 is all about contrasts and you’ll want to choose a palette that suits your skin tone and then be creative with your hair color choices from there. The most popular hair color options this season are natural, but the punk rock scene is also blasting out crazy color choices that have become more and more appealing to the mainstream. Whatever color you choose, just make sure it complements your aura and your skin tone. That way you really can’t go wrong this fall.

The colors that are most prominent on the runway this season are earthy, natural tones that are emphasized by either laid-back, relaxed hair or hair that has been carefully dressed using a variety of hair products. The rather than radical color choices and highlighting schemes of the past are  more muted and carefree this fall. If you’re not ready to dye your hair a bright shade of purple or shave the side of your head for a punk look, then go with something natural like a cinnamon red color or chocolate brown. You can’t go wrong with these colors this season.

Adding highlights to your hair this fall could also be a good move. But, keep them toned down a bit, r

ather than doing super-striking highlights that look unnatural, you’ll want the tones to look blended. Again, the goal is for hair to look more natural and soft. Many of the hair styles this season are romantic and extremely feminine. Your hair color should be the same way.

On the other hand, if you really like to stand out in a crowd and you like for your hair to bring out your eccentricities, punk hair color trends may be more appropriate for you to follow. With punk hair, you can approach your hair color options with a more creative impulse. Hair colors tend to be very bold and bright as the technology behind the hair colorant chemicals improves. Rainbow hair is still “in” among punk enthusiasts with some very stylish and attractive color options available.

If you decide to make a change in your hair color, be sure that you visit your stylist to get the best results from your efforts. Though you may have the best intentions, buying cheap hair color at the grocery store isn’t going to lead to shiny, sleek results. The hair color chemicals used at the salon are of a higher grade than those sold in stores and women who want to look their best for fall 2013 need to make sure that they go with hair color options that will keep their hair looking shiny and healthy.

How to Fix Common Hair Problems – OKC Hairdresser

Lots of things can go wrong with your hair, but you don’t have to live with it! Most hair care problems can, in fact, be fixed, but not if you ignore them! The most common problems that women encounter with their hair are split ends, grey, and severe damage. If you’re tired of dealing with hair that’s less than perfect day after day, then it’s probably time to visit the salon.  You will be able to take advantage of your hair care expert’s knowledge and skill; they should be able to recommend how to repair the damage done to your hair.

Though most hair problems can be fixed, keep in mind that the methods used to bring you hair back to normal again may not be what you expected. For example, if you have severely damaged hair from having repeatedly colored it or perhaps even permed it, then your stylist may recommend a short cut. A super-short cut would then allow you to get rid of all the split ends and damaged hair caused by over-coloring or other treatment. A super-short cut may not be the most appealing option, but it’s quite possible that it’s the only way to get your hair to grow out again and rebalance your look. Super-short hairstyles are also in style; women like Beyonce and Anne Hathaway are making headlines by wearing them with pride.

Greying hair is an obvious fix, although it’s wise to visit your stylist to get the best results from hair color. It may be cheaper to head to the grocery store to buy some hair dye, but often women aren’t able to cover all the grey and sometimes, unfortunately, the results are splotchy and unattractive. Rather than risk it, pay more to have your stylist do the job right. The color will turn out looking the way it’s supposed to look and you won’t miss spots. And best of all, the hair color your stylist uses probably won’t be as damaging on your hair as the stuff you would buy at the grocery store.

If you’re trying to grow your hair out, you may not want to cut a few inches of hair off to get rid of split ends, but guess what? If you don’t, your hair will probably just continue to break off anyway. Women with medium length to long hair need to get regular trims to keep split ends under control and by doing this, they can actually boost hair growth (or so it seems because the hair doesn’t break off as fast). Your stylist may be able to recommend a special treatment for your hair if you have trouble with split ends. Buy a hot oil treatment to deep condition several times after you get those nasty split ends cut off at the salon.

Women’s Hairstyles That Men Love

You may spend hours fixing your hair in the hopes that you’ll draw the attention of a sexy beau.  It’s important to realize that men are often drawn to the simple and easy.  What attracts men to a woman’s hair probably isn’t what you think.

Every man is different and while some men are attracted to women who have simply thrown their hair up into a pony tail, others find the color of a woman’s hair to be the most important feature. There is, in fact, no set formula to determining the style that stands out above the rest.  As a rule, men do still favor long hair on a woman above a shorter style. A woman’s hair cut probably isn’t as important to a man as to how confident she is of her appearance. That’s why men may not notice when women have changed something with their hair. Instead of looking at their style or color, they’re looking at the woman as a whole.

Pony tails can be sexy and many men find them to be irresistible. Known as the “Sporty Look”, many men cite the attractiveness of natural femininity as the reason why pony tails are such a turn on. Women who are out to feel good about their appearance in general are more attractive to many men than women who are actively trying to impress men. It’s a paradox, but that’s how it is. According to some sources, you shouldn’t be afraid to wander out to the grocery store in your jammies and pony tail as long as you feel comfortable in those duds.

The color of a woman’s hair rarely matters to most men who simply like to admire the healthy glow of a woman’s tresses from across the room. Radiant color will catch a man’s eye.  It doesn’t matter whether the color is fake or natural; as long as the woman’s hair looks healthy and clean, the man will be drawn to her. Go ahead and choose a color that suits you, but take care of the final result with plenty of conditioners to make sure that your hair looks and feels healthy. Go to your stylist to make sure the final color ends up bright and attractive.

These days, many men go ga-ga for bangs and some women have purchased faux bangs that simply clip in to catch the attention of the opposite sex. Bangs are a big commitment and many women spurn them simply because they can be hard to grow out once the fad passes. But, if you have some extra cash and you want to see what bangs can do for you, get some extensions through your stylist. They can be manufactured to fit your natural hair color so that no one but you (and maybe your bestie) will know that they’re not the real deal.
