The most anticipated hair trends for 2013 – Oklahoma City Salon

Winter may be creeping up on us with a vengeance, but as we know, the fashion world is always looking forward to the next season. The fall shows have come and gone, and we’ve had an insight into
not only what clothes will make the spring statement, but also the hairstyles.

Sometimes, the styles crafted onto catwalk models do not easily translate to ‘wearability’ for every day wear, but there were more than enough clues as to what are the anticipated trends for 2013 are.

Long flowing locks will remain on trend in 2013, but there’s even greater emphasis on the multitude of ways of dressing them. Hair stylists will be taking inspiration from the catwalk to find even more ways to create a ponytail – expect more that are generally lower and broader.

Knots too will continue to feature, from the simple upsweep to fancy twists and intricately woven creations. If you thought there was but a limited way to fashion a hair knot, think again. Stylists working for all the major designers at the fall shows featured their updated version of the classic knot. From ultra sleek to sculptured wonders, the knot comes of age in 2013.

Braids will also gain some attention with crisscross plaiting being an update on the traditional favorite. Braided sections add a dimension to simple, ultra-straight hair, and multi-braids in different directions are going to make a stand-out statement. For a bang-up-to-minute look, a low ponytail held in place by uber-thin braids is going to be hard to beat.

Slick is back too, but in less dramatic fashion than in spring 2012. Slick for 2013 is a watered down
version of the ‘just out the ocean’ look, with an emphasis on sleek and shiny, rather than drenched.

The current trend that shows no signs of fading out in 2013 is for hair accessories. For all lengths of hair, all types and all colors, the range of accessories and hair decorations just continues to blossom. For day and evening wear, inspiration comes from all quarters to create an accessory that is either practical to hold a style in place, or makes a defining statement. There’s an embarrassment of riches to keep those ponytails, upsweeps, knots and braids in place

Long Hairstyles for Boys and Young Men – Oklahoma City Hairdresser

Hairstyles for boys and young men don’t have to boring. Boys and young men have more choices than ever for trendy and current hairstyles. Long hair has been popular for quite some time and if you watch Disney or Nickelodeon you can see that long shaggy hair is one of the most popular styles on these networks. The Jonas brothers, Zak Effron, Owen Wilson and other celebrities all wear their hair long. What makes today’s long hairstyles for boys and young men is the versatility. You can have a style all your own and switch up your looks easily.

One of the most popular long styles is the side part with layers. This style was worn by Justin Beiber for many years and is still a great choice. Long layers on the side and back are topped by side swept bangs. You can wear this style smooth or use some paste and piece it out for a more textured look.

Another great style for boys and young men is a shoulder length surfer look. For this style, have your hairdresser cut your hair just past your shoulders with layers and texture near the ends. This will give your hair movement and more styling options. Apply some curl booster if you have natural waves or curls for texture or wear it smooth. This style also looks good in a ponytail gathered at the nape of your neck.

A long faux hawk is an more structured look. Use gel and styling paste to pull the hair up in a faux hawk and then pull the side toward your face. If you prefer a more polished look, use some gel and comb your hair straight back into a slick look. Ask your hairdresser to give you ideas on how to cut and style your hair if you want to try long hairstyles for boys and young men. Messy, choppy and textured cuts are easy to care for and maintain with the right styling products and a great cut. So have fun with your hair and try out a long style for a new and different look.

Carmen Electra Hair

Born in 1972, Carmen Electra may be known to you as the one-time wife of Dennis Rodman, Playboy bunny several times over, Baywatch babe, or the Carmen in reality series Carmen & Dave. Whichever image sticks, there’s one common element in all – her amazing hair and the many ways she knows how to dress it up.

The amazing part is that with every new hair style, she seems to re-invent herself into someone more exciting. Take for instance her hair color. Carmen Electra has probably run the gamut of light to dark hair, blonde to dark brown, and each hair color seems to look incredible. Of course, a personal favorite of many stylists would be the light brown with highlights that seems to bring out her incredible eyes.

Carmen Electra has also gone from straight to wavy, and then, to curly long locks. Each look is runway perfect, making her look completely in control of her looks. Of course, the highlights have become a signature look for her, no matter what the hair color is.

Another signature look for this bombshell beauty is the pulled back hair style. You will rarely see her with her hair not pulled away from her face, showing her extreme confidence. Whether pulled up in a chignon, or long and loose, she will always use her hair to highlight her face, and not the other way around.

Her 2010 look is on the medium brown side with the expected highlights and soft curls. Her one faux pas around June 2009, was her messy rocker look with raccoon eyes. Not a pretty sight at all. However, that’s all in the past, and it looks like she’s got ‘it’ back. She’s wearing a formal hair style and an amazing ponytail with curls galore. She is even trying soft bangs for a really pleasant hair change.

Carmen Electra turns heads everywhere she goes. If you want a similar style and don’t have long hair, no need to wait, you can get extensions.
