Lobbying for Long Hair Lobs – OKC Hair Salons

Long hair always rules, but it can be challenging to find new hair cuts for long hair. Finding a unique way to get your hair cut when it’s long can be a real challenge, which is why some women are getting the lob, otherwise known as the “long bob”. The lob is considered to be a bold statement in some respects, but this hair cut is really quite versatile. You can wear plenty of different styles with a lob cut and still enjoy a unique look when your hair is down.

The lob is a hair cut created for women with just about any face shape. It’s usually cut just above the shoulders, which helps to keep the look from drawing the face down. The lob has an age-defying effect on women of any age and yet the cut is undeniably trendy and elegant. Celebrities such as Heidi Klum and Jessica Alba have brought the lob to the public and demonstrated just how versatile this hair style can be.

What makes the long bob so popular is that there are so many different types of lob cuts. It can be personalized to each individual and cut at different lengths to complement different face shapes or to bring out the best qualities in different hair textures. The lob can even be layered and spiced up with some bangs, hair color or highlights. In any case, you should still be able to style your hair in just about any way you like. The lob is extremely flexible. You can wear it in an elegant updo or create curls for a more sensuous look. If so inclined, you might even wear the lob as a punk look.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a new mother, a sophisticated business woman, or a bride-to-be; the lob is flexible enough for just about any woman and this fall, the long bob is definitely coming back “in”. Talk with your stylist about hair color possibilities to bring out the best in this particular hair cut. If you’re looking for a slightly unique way to cut your longer hair so that you’ll have plenty of styling options no matter what your mood, the long bob is a good choice.

The long bob isn’t so long that the hair is too heavy to style, but it isn’t so short that your options will be limited either. Whether you choose to go with layers or not, you can do so much with this hair cut, you may never want to get a new style. Discuss the various options that you have available to put together a truly unique look that’s yours and yours alone using the lob as a basic template to get your creative juices flowing.

5 Hot Oscar Hairstyles of the Past – Oklahoma City Hairstylist

The Academy Awards are a time for glitz and glamour, and the upcoming 85th Academy Awards on February 24th will be no exception. In its long history the fashions and hairstyles of this night are awaited with almost as much expectation as the announcement of the Oscar winners. The trends of the next season can be seen on this prestigious night, and hairstylists all across the country will be asked to duplicate these styles. Since the Oscars are just around the corner, it might be fun to see some of the hottest hairstyles of the past decade. Here are five of the top Oscar hairstyles of the past few years.

In 2009 Reese Witherspoon won an Oscar for her performance as June Carter Cash in “Walk the Line”. Her hair was styled in a sophisticated chignon. To get this style, apply some texturizing spray to damp hair and blow dry it with the diffuser attachment. Scrunch your hair as you dry it, and then sweep it back into a ponytail. Twist random sections of your hair around the base of the ponytail and secure them with bobby pins.

Charlize Theron wore her hair in a wavy bob in 2004. This style is achieved by old fashioned pin curls. Apply mousse to damp hair and blow dry it until it is almost dry, but still damp. Create a deep side part and divide your hair into one inch section, roll them each up into a pin curl and secure with two bobby pins. Once your hair is completely dry, unclip the bobby pins, gently brush it out, and form the curls into soft waves with a comb.

Cate Blanchette’s half updo is still a very chic style. In 2008 Cate wore her hair in the pretty feminine style when she was nominated for her role in “Elizabeth: The Golden Age”. Get lots of body by using a small round brush when you blow dry your hair, and backcombing at the crown. Let your hair part naturally and pull back a section from the front and secure it with bobby pins at the nape of your neck.

Amanda Seyfried was old style Hollywood glamour in 2009 when she wore her hair in sexy long waves. Use a large one inch curling iron on dry hair, pinning the curls up until the are cool. Once your hair is cool gently brush it into long soft waves and apply a shine spray or anti-frizz product for extra gloss.

In 2008 Jessica Alba was a glowing expectant mother, but her braided chignon stole the show. This may look like a complicated style, but it is easy to recreate. Blow dry your hair with a round brush, and take two inch sections from your temples to the tops of your ears and clip them to one side. Braid random sections of your hair and twist and swirl them together to form a messy bun. Take the two pieces from the front of your hair and French braid them along your hairline, and then create normal braids on the end. Pull these back and secure them into the bun.

These are just a few of the hottest Oscar hairstyles from the past decade. If you see a style you like and want to try out, ask your stylist to help you recreate it, and recommend professional styling products to achieve the results you want. This year’s Oscars promise to be just as glamorous and exciting as past events. It will be fun to see what hairstyles the stars come up with in February.

How to Style Soft Silky Waves – Oklahoma City Hairstyles

Soft silky waves are sexy and very feminine. In a recent Tweet, Jessica Alba showed off her new ombre hair color and her signature soft silky waves. Women of all ages are wearing soft waves, and the trend of wearing short hair after 40 is a thing of the past. Now any woman can rock sexy waves no matter what her age.

The key to having silky soft hair is moisture. Hair needs moisture and when you use a blow dryer, hot rollers, or a curling iron regularly these tools can sap the moisture out of your hair, and make it dry and brittle. Look for products which contain natural olive oil, sunflower oil, or Argan oil. These are some of the best oils for your hair since they absorb completely, and contain vitamins and antioxidants to keep your hair looking and feeling healthy.

To style soft waves start with a volumizing mousse in towel dried hair. Section your hair out and blow dry it gently with a large barrel brush. You can also flip your hair over your head while you bend down and blow dry the roots first to get maximum volume. When your hair is dry you have two choices; hot rollers or a curling iron. Both will give you curls and waves. To get the hottest look take random sections of your hair and alternate the direction your roll it up. One important step you can’t skip is to let your hair cool completely before you brush it. This will ensure your waves stay bouncy.

After your hair is completely cooled, use a wide paddle brush and gently brush it out. (Don’t worry, you’re not going to brush the waves out.) Next use a bit of styling paste to define the waves, spray your hair with shine spray and hairspray. Now you’ve got a full head of soft, silky, and very sexy waves. Ask your stylist for product recommendations to keep your hair moisturized and healthy looking.

Men and women have been wearing braids in their hair for centuries. In the ancient world intricate braided hairstyles were a sign of class. The more elaborate your hairstyle, the higher in society you were. In some parts of the world braids were a matter of convenience. Braided hair doesn’t get matted and frizzy in hot climates, and they helped to protect the hair and scalp. You can find braids in almost every time period and every civilization. These ancient hairstyles have influenced hairstyles throughout history, and today braids are some of the hottest looks around. Here are 5 braided hairstyle ideas for you to try.

Another cute style is peek a boo braids. These are braids done near the back and underside of your hair that peek out.

Welcome to this week’s edition of Hairstyles in the News! Summer is upon us in full force and it is hot and humid over most of the country. You may be spending more time outside and need carefree styles to keep you cool and looking good. Celebrities are sporting more easy styles this summer in a attempt to look cool and polished. At a recent state dinner, First Lady Michelle Obama wore a very flattering curly style. It is good to see Mrs. Obama show a more relaxed side of her style once in a while. You can get this look with some curl enhancer applied to towel dried hair, use a large barrel brush while blow drying your hair and then a curling iron to define your curls. Use a bit of paste to enhance your curls and a medium hold hairspray to finish. The goal is to make your curls look natural and effortless.

Nicole Kidman wore a classic ponytail with fringe to the 2011 CMT Awards. Ponytails are very trendy this summer and you can wear yours loose and free like Nicole, or use a paddle brush to back comb it and pump up the volume. A low ponytail at the nape of your neck is also in fashion this summer.

Dame Judi Dench looks great all of the time and one of the reasons is her great haircut. A Pixie is very flattering to women over 40 and is very easy to take care of. Although the Pixie is a very short style, it is still versatile.

Sharon Stone is another star who looks good no matter what she wears. She is wearing a short style in the style of Pixie, but she has opted to wear hers spiky and away from her face. This is an example of the versatility of the Pixie. Your stylist can help you to experiment with styles that will look great on you.

Selena Gomez has gone from the darling of Disney to a very beautiful young woman. At the recent MTV Movie Awards she looks quite lovely with a half updo. Her stylist used a large barrel curling iron to give her hair body and waves and then pulled it up into a half ponytail. This is a great style for special nights out this summer or a day at the beach.

Jessica Alba wore a slick bun to the CFDA Fashion Awards. A bun is a classic style and you can wear one slicked back like Jessica, or pulled back into a messy do. Either one is on point this summer and a great way to wear your hair up and to stay cool.

That’s all for this week. As the mercury climbs, try out one of these styles and not only stay cool, but look great while you’re doing it. Ask your stylist for heat and sun protective products to keep your scalp and hair free of sun damage. Until next week, stay cool and stay stylish.

Jessica Alba Style

Maybe it’s her Mexican, Dutch, and French background, but Jessica Alba seems to fit in anywhere she goes. Of course, when she first started out as a 12 year old in bit parts, her hair and make-up had a tendency to be over the top. However, none of the flushed cheeks and over-blown hair is obvious today. Clearly, Jessica Alba has come a long way since then.

If you talk to Jessica Alba, she would tell you that she never imagined that people would be describing her as exotic, but that’s exactly what she is, a beautiful, exotic woman. Her girl-next-door image is not the layered, country-style, come-what-may look. Rather, it’s a casualness about her hair, clothes and make-up that brings out that amazing approachable and super-likeable personality.

If one were to describe the style of Jessica Alba, it would be never contrived, welcoming, and capped off always with her trademark smile.

When it comes to hair, Jessica Alba has gone through the book, and experimented with many hair styles and hair colors in the past, but never has she looked more beautiful than today. Her affinity with highlights probably started early in her career because it has become practically her hair style trademark.

To get that Jessica Alba look, it isn’t just about the soft, long, brown curls and highlights, but also making sure that hair accessories never go over the top. It seems her preference though is for long hair – straight or wavy. Her highlight are always on the blonde side and compliment her skin tone and hair color tremendously well.

To get her hair style, you need to have the ends layered for that bouncy effect. Achieve the soft look by also layering the sides of the face to gently frame your best facial features. Unless you have naturally thick, wavy hair, you will need to use volumizing hair products to give the illusion of natural waves.

After applying the volumizing hair product (spray or mousse) on your damp hair, flip your head down, and blow dry. Then gently massage the roots to get that bouncy California girl-next-door appeal. If you want more waves, simply use your fingers to scrunch your hair as you blow dry. You can also use medium sized curling aids, but never curl up to the roots, just the middle to bottom end.

Finally, use a diffuser and hair wax to remove the frizziness. Keep in mind that less is better, so don’t go overboard with the styling products because it can weigh down your hair and make it look oily or heavy. Of course it starts with a great cut, with your goals in mind, so as always consult your stylist.
