The Modern Man’s Hair Cut – Hair Stylist Oklahoma City

It’s a common fact that men are less bothered about their hair compared to women, and what men don’t realize is that a new hairstyle can not only change your look, it can change your overall personality. Men’s hairstyles aren’t like women’s – they’re not short lived and often lasting no more than the next fashion season. Men’s hairstyle trends evolve much more slowly and can last for years.

The modern man’s hairstyle can either be long and textured or super short and tight. Some men’s hairstyles require wax, clay or gel while others you can run your fingers through and hey presto, you’re done. Today, more than ever, there are plenty of ways to achieve a stylish and trendy style that suits you and your personality.

Short hairstyle

High and tight, the spike, clipper cut and crew cut are just a few of the names given to a short style worn by the modern man. By far the most popular style is the high and tight. Defined by a closely cropped clipper cut around the sides and back of the head, with just enough hair on top to comb. This style with its many variations is one of the most popular styles today, and my personal favorite – the undercut hairstyle. This type of hairstyle is suitable for all types of hair, be it straight, wavy or curly. Men with a diminishing hairline may also opt for this hairstyle.

To achieve this style ask your hairdresser to cut hair shorter on the sides and back with a clipper guard and longer on the top. Your hairdresser can also use the scissor over comb technique to give it a tailored finish look. Make sure your hair on top remains longer so you can apply a mould or wax to give your hair the desired shape.

With any shorter style you will have to get it cut more often, about every three weeks or so, however the ease of styling this hair cut is what makes it a favorite among busy young men today.

Shoulder length hairstyle

Shoulder length hairstyles for men have a lot of texture and the same is true for medium-length styles (about 3 to 4 inches long). These classic styles resemble the hair cut of the past, but step it up a notch by using extreme texture and color to bring it all together. Most styles use a great deal of razoring and texturizing with notching scissors. To achieve this style pomade usually works best. Work product through dry hair and finger into place.

Long hairstyle

It’s very rare to see a man wearing hair down his back anymore, and today’s longer hairstyle has made a somewhat shorter comeback. The most recognizable example of the longer style is Ashton Kutcher. Long, textured and disheveled, this hair cut is very popular with the relaxed man. This hair cut requires a lot of texture and works best with pomade.

These days men’s cuts are far from boring. Gone are the days of going to a barber shop and asking for short back and sides. Here to stay are today’s trendy and styled cuts.
