Emma Watson’s pixie cut was voted the number one cut by the Wall Street Journal’s Fashion Highlights of 2011. Emma’s pixie even out ranked Jennifer Aniston’s new bob for searches on Google last year. According to the Daily Glow, Emma’s pixie was cited by the Wall Street Journal as a major shift in women’s hairstyles. While that may be a bit of a steep statement, no one can deny the pixie has taken the American hairstyle scene by storm. The beehive has been popular since the 1960’s. Your grandmother probably went to the salon each week to get her hair washed, set and styled to maintain this sky high do. As blow dryers and a more natural look became popular, beehives were saved for special occasions or for royalty. Through the years the look has gone through some changes, but the signature height and style are still hallmarks of the elegant updo. The history of the beehive is interesting.
