Braided Top Knot – The Hot New Look for 2011

First start with brushed hair and work a French braid from the nape of your neck up to the crown. Form a bun on top of your head and secure it with bobby pins. Don’t worry about getting every hair in place, messy is good for this do. A variation is to have two braids that meet at the crown of your head and a messy bun. Both looks are unique and cutting edge.

Day old hair works the best as opposed to freshly washed hair since day old hair has some natural oils in it and is much easier to work with. Freshly washed hair is too slick and believe it or not, too clean to work with and keep up in the braids. You can also curl the ends of your hair to give it plenty of volume. Spray your head with a super hold hairspray and you’re good to go for the evening or a special occasion.
