Welcome to this week’s Hairstyles in the News! This week we saw several celebrities wearing long soft curls. This style seems to be one of the most popular ones this season, and stylists predict this trend will continue into 2012. If you don’t have long hair, consider having human hair extensions placed in your hair. The best quality human hair extensions are Remy extensions. These are cut from one weft of hair and give you the smoothest and most natural look of any extensions.
Avoid synthetic extensions because they can’t be styled like your natural hair. You can’t use any heat on synthetic extensions, and they have a tendency to get ratty looking after a few weeks. Human hair extensions can also be used over again if they are maintained properly. Your stylist can place them in your natural hair and give you the long gorgeous curls you see on red carpets, and they will last for many weeks – even months if you take care of them properly. Now onto this week’s celebrity styles.
Alicia Keys’ soft waves at a photo call for Stick Fly are worn swept back from her face to give her a soft natural look. You can have this look easily with large barrel brush and hot rollers. Simply style your hair away from your face as you blow dry it and then roll it up on large hot rollers. Let it cool completely and gently brush it out. A spritz of hairspray keeps everything neat.
Shailene Woodley at the The Descendants photo call was wearing her hair in natural waves. Simply apply some mousse to your towel dried hair, blow dry it with your fingers, and then brush it out. Spray on some shine spray and light hair spray and you’re good to go. Shailene also has her hair colored in a very attractive graduation from caramel to light blonde. This gives her a sun kissed look that is youthful looking and natural.
Mary Louise Parker at A Better Life DVD and Blu-Ray launch party wore her hair bone straight. To achieve this look, use heat protecting products before you blow dry and flat iron your hair. Section your hair out so that it is easier to flat iron and use some shine spray to give it extra sheen. Also be sure to deep condition your hair if you use your flat iron frequently.
Alyssa Campanella’s side swept style at the 2011 Golden Heart Awards is another easy look to achieve. Alyssa has her beautiful red hair pulled to one side over her shoulder. You can get this look by pulling your hair to one side as you blow dry it and then use a curling iron on the ends to give you a bit of volume. A deep side part is accented by flat ironed fringe to frame her face.
Madonna’s long curls at the London premiere of W.E. make her look much younger than her fifty something years. This is a nice change from the hard edge styles she is so fond of. To achieve this look, use medium size hot rollers and gently brush out your hair into soft waves. A deep side part held back with a pretty clip gives this style a very lovely accent.
Fergie has a fondness for top knots, and at the Decade of Difference Gala she had her hair styled in a sleek top knot that really brings out her features. To get this look use gel on your towel dried hair and pull it up into a high ponytail. Wrap your hair around your ponytail and secure it with u-shaped hairpins. Apply a generous amount of hairspray to keep everything pulled together and you have one of the classiest and hottest looks around.
That’s it for this week. If you see a style you like, as always ask your hairstylist to help you achieve it. She will tailor it to your facial shape and lifestyle to make it your own. If you need extensions, talk to her about placing Remy extensions in your hair to give you the volume and length you want. Until next week keep looking to the stars for inspiration, and take care of yourself.
