Welcome to this week’s edition of Hairstyles in the News. January is now history and before you know it Valentine’s Day will be rolling around along with spring. Have you decided on your new spring look yet? It’s not too early to start thinking of getting a new cut, color and style for spring. Zooey Deschanel wore her hair in a half updo with some height at her crown at the recent Sundance Film Festival. You can get this look by sectioning your hair and teasing the crown a bit. Use a brush and smooth the top over then pull your hair into a half updo. Use a medium barrel curling iron to add some curl. This look is very feminine and pulled together for any occasion.

Malinda Williams was seen in a carefree pixie hairstyle at the MAC Hello Kitty Colour Collection debut. A pixie is a great cut for any type of hair and can be worn straight, spiked or with some body and waves. A great cut is the key for the pixie. Let your stylist know how short and fringed you want your pixie cut before she starts so you’ll get just the cut you want.

At the Golden Globes Mila Kunis wore a very polished french twist. Start with day old hair so that it is easier to work with and not too slick. Freshly washed hair tends to be too slippery and won’t hold this style very well. If you don’t know how to get this classic look, make an appointment with your stylist the day of your event and let her do it for you.

Kerri Russell has another classic updo that is very easy to do. Just use a bit of mousse or styling paste on your wet hair, put it in a side part and take a pretty hair tie and gather your hair up in a loose ponytail. On the last wrap of your hair tie, don’t pull the ponytail all the way through. This will give you a loose bun.

Sheryl Crowe also wore a loose and easy hairstyle to the Golden Globes. Simply apply mouse or styling paste to your wet hair and use your fingers to define your curls. Curly hair gives you so many options and can be worn like Sheryl’s or put up in a messy updo.

Selita Ebanks uses a hair band to keep your curly locks out of her eyes and give her style a lift. Hair bands come in many different colors, patterns and styles. You can find one perfect for your outfit and they make great accessories.

Mandy Moore’s tangled top knot keeps the messy updo theme going at the Tangled premiere recently. A top knot is a bit of a trick to achieve so you may want to enlist the aid of your stylist the day of your special event.

That’s if for this week’s edition of Hairstyles in the News. If you saw any looks you want to try be sure to make an appointment with your stylist and let her do the work. She has the professional products to keep your hair looking great all day and night.
