With the holiday season fast approaching you’ll need some ideas for party looks. But you don’t want to spend hours in front of the mirror or in the stylist’s chair to look great. One holiday look that is very easy and looks chic is the high ponytail. The high ponytail sits near the crown of your head and you can wear it neat like Kristen Stewart’s, or on the messy side like Rhianna’s.

Both versions can be done in just a few minutes. You can start with clean hair or day old hair. Pull your hair back into a high ponytail and secure it. If you want a bit of a messy look, keep your bangs down or pull some hair out of the ponytail to frame your face. Use a large barrel curling iron to give the back some body and curls. Lastly spray it all with hairspray and scrunch the ponytail to keep it looking natural.

You can also add some height to the crown with backcombing. Section out the hair on the top of your head before you pull it back into a ponytail and gently comb it back toward your head at the roots. Spray some root lift or a bit of hairspray on the roots before you backcomb them to help you get even more volume. When you’ve got the lift you want smooth the top hair over the backcombed section.
