Curls can be at their most bothersome in rain or humidity so when going for Nicole Kidman’s look be sure to use products that lock out moisture. Dryness Chances are if you have curly hair it is most likely dry and rough which makes it a lot more prone to frizz and needs more maintenance. So air dry hair wherever possible to avoid dryness and breakage.
- Shampooing your hair can really dry it out and strip hair of all moisture so unless severely dirty, skip it.
- Try rinsing your hair with luke warm water instead of hot. The hotter the water the dryer the hair will be.
- Use a moisturizing conditioner for dry hair and leave in for 10-20 minutes after each shampoo.

- You cannot over-condition frizzy hair. You need a heavy conditioner for every day use and a deep conditioner for use once a week.
- Use a mixture of creams and serums to calm down the frizz – apply to damp hair.
- Where possible limit your use of heat appliances. They damage the hair cuticle, making your hair more prone to frizz.
- Try and stretch washing your hair to only twice a week so that your hair oils get the chance to naturally keep your curls under control.
Replace your brush with a wide-toothed comb. If your hair is damaged brushing only makes it worse – it is easier to damage curly hair with a brush whether wet or dry. Untangling hair while dry with any tool is not a good idea; separating the curls dry just causes more frizz. Instead of a brush, switch to a wide-toothed comb or go back to basics and use your fingers.
- Try combing your hair in the shower while the conditioner is in.
- Use a little conditioner and mix with 4 oz. of water in a spray bottle. Shake it up, then mist on hair. Massage it through before combing.
